Scientist for Sample Recognition and Characterization (f/m)

The sample environment group of the European XFEL Facility develops in-house expertise in state of the art sample preparation and delivery techniques and coordinates contributions from external user collaborations. In the frame of the European Commission project EUCALL we are going to develop an automatic sample delivery workflow to be used at different high power light sources. Scientist for Sample Recognition and Characterization (f/m)

The position

  • developing a work flow for semi-automatic sample recognition and localization
  • coordination of the sample recognition project with the other EUCALL partners
  • purchasing of image recognition systems and integration with existing optical confocal and conventional microscopes
  • customizing software for integration into European XFEL framework
  • participation in in-house development of a fast solid sample scanner
  • planning and participation in first experiments with the fast solid sample scanner

Requirements

  • PhD in physics or biology or equivalent academic experience
  • strong interest in interdisciplinary research
  • profound knowledge of image recognition software, both in using and programming would be an advantage
  • experience in digital microscopy
